ASCO Issues Statement on Final Results of National Lung Screening Trial

ASCO has issued a statement on the significance of the final results of the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), published in The New England Journal of Medicine on June 29. The NLST involved more than 53,000 current and former heavy smokers ages 55-74 randomly assigned to receive three annual screens with either a low-dose helical computed tomogram (LDCT) or a posteroanterior (PA) projection chest x-ray (CXR).  Read the statement and perspective for patients on Cancer.Net.
